From Marrakech, take an 12-day tour Marrakech to the desert via the north that travels over the Sahara desert to Fes and Chefchaouen. You will see a lot of wonderful places in these 12 days and 11 nights. These include the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, the Ait-Ben-Haddou Kasbah, the high Atlas mountains, and the city of Ouarzazate. together with the Todra Gorges, Dades Valley, and Amridil Kasbah. Explore Merzouga Sahara Desert as well. where you can spend the night in a desert tent, ride camels, and see breathtaking sunsets and sunrises. In a 4×4 vehicle, explore Merzouga’s Sahara desert. You will also go to Erfoud, the town of fossils, and the traditional market in Rissani. After that, go to Ifrane, Switzerland in Morocco, and the cedar forest where Barbary macaques live. Discover two of Morocco’s royal towns, Fes and Meknes. See the blue city of Chefchaouen and the Roman remains of Volubilis. At last, Tangier marks the conclusion of the journey.

Itinerary
12-day tour Marrakech to the desert

1 day : Marrakech arrival

Upon arrival, our skilled driver warmly welcomes you at the airport. Ensuring a smooth transfer to your riad. After relaxing, you can walk around and explore Jamaa Elfna square and the medina.

2 day : Marrakech sightseeing tour with a local guide

After breakfast, you will see Marrakech’s historical sights with your local guide. Including visits to Menara Gardens, Koutoubia Minaret, Saadian Tombs, and Bahia Palace. Explore the ancient Medina walls, Agdal Gardens, modern Geuliz quarter, the marketplaces, and the iconic Jamaa El Fna Square. Explore the iconic plaza, the size of a football field, as it was 500 years ago, complete with storytellers, dealers of magical potions, dancers, snake charmers, and acrobats.

Your guide will take you back to your riad.

Day 3: Marrakech - Casablanca

Next day of our 12-day tour Marrakech to the desert via the north will start by heating the highway to Casablanca. The city of Casablanca is the largest/biggest city in Morocco, also known as the economic city of Morocco. Our goal for the day is to catch one of the hourly visits of the Mosque, Hassan ll Mosque is the biggest Mosque in Morocco which is partly built in the ocean. After visiting the mosque, we go see the well known Rick’s cafe in Casablanca movie. Then drive back near the Mosque if you wanna have a walk in the Corniche before getting you to your hotel for the night.

Day 4: Casablanca - Rabat - Chefchaouen

After a tasty breakfast in Casablanca, we drive to Rabat. As we get the capital,we start by Oudaya Kasbah which is a 12th century building, inside the Kasbah, you will notice a Moorish influence especially the white washed buildings and the colourful Andalusian gardens. Also, on a panoramic view overlooking the Atlantic ocean, you can clearly see the river of Bouregreg that separates Rabat city from the city of Sale.

Next, we carry on to visit Hassan Tower. It is known as the incomplete mosque because the death of the Sultan Yaakoub El Mansour in 1199 stopped the construction. The tower was intended to be the highest minaret in the Islamic world, but it halted at a height of 44m with surrounding walls and 348 columns. Now, the tower is turned to be the emblem of the city of Rabat.

In the same place, we visit the Mausoleum of the previous kings Mohamed V, Hassan Il and the prince Moulay Abdellah.

After a delicious lunch in a local restaurant, full of energy we drive through the western part of the country which is famous for agriculture. Through the countryside and various agricultural fields, we drive on scenic view with possible stops along the way to the blue city, Chefchaouen.

Day 5: Free day in Chefchaouen

Today is the day of exploring the blue city, we will wonder through the city. Built in the 15-th century, Chefchaouen has an old city which is mostly painted in blue. The highlights of the city are as follows since the city is easy to navigate: The kasbah which is located in the middle of the medina that is not painted in blue as it symbolizes the defensive fortress over the city. The building now is turned to be an ethnographic museum. Also, place Uta Hammam which the busy square of Chefchaouen. In addition to that, Ras El Ma indicating the water spring which has a straight source from the mountains.

You can also do some hiking to Spanish mosque to watch the sunset overlooking to the medina.

Day 6 : Chefchaouen –Volubilis - Meknes - Fes

After visiting Chefchaouen, we’ll set out for our next destination: Volubilis. Along the way, we’ll drive through Ouazzan and enjoy more views of the Rif Mountain. In Volubilis, you’ll have the chance to visit the ancient Roman ruins and the UNESCO-listed archaeological site.

After that, we’ll head to the imperial city of Meknes, where you’ll see the historical monuments of the 17th century. You’ll visit the main monuments, such as the Mansour gate, Hedim square, and Moulay Ismail mausoleum, and the mysterious prison of Qara with no doors.

Finally, we’ll travel to another imperial city: Fes. You’ll spend the night in the old Medina at a local riad

7 day : Guided tour sightseeing Fes

We will pick you up from your Fes riad after breakfast to tour the city. Apart from to being Morocco’s cultural and religious center, the city is regarded as one of its imperial cities.

We begin the day by visiting the Royal Palace Gate. Then there’s the well-preserved medieval Medina, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Blue Gate, also known as Bab Boujloud, marks the entrance to the old Medina. You will enter the Medina with a local guide. To see the Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine Fountain, the Tanneries, and lastly the Quaraouin Mosque and University, the world’s oldest university. Following that, we leave the Medina to explore the Jewish area known as “the Mellah”. Then we drive to an ancient fortress, for panoramic views of the Medina and the city of Fes. Then return to your riad.

Day 8: Fes – Ifrane - Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga:

On the next day of your 12-day tour Marrakech to the desert, you’ll start by visiting the charming town of Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its Alpine-style houses. After exploring the town, you’ll head to the Cedar Forest, home to barbary apes. You’ll have the chance to see these apes in their natural habitat and enjoy the beauty of the forest. Next, you’ll travel to Midelt, known as the “capital of apples” in Morocco.

You’ll have a lunch break here before continuing to the Ziz Valley, where you’ll see the stunning panoramic views of the oasis palm groves. From there, you’ll head to the date and fossil city of Erfoud and continue to the Merzouga desert.

When you arrive at your accommodation, you’ll be welcomed with a mint tea and spend the night there

Day 9: Merzouga excursion – Visit Nomads – Gnawa Music

Today, we’ll wake you up early so you can see the breathtaking sunrise. Following that, you’ll have breakfast, shower, and begin the day. We have all day today to go on a 4WD adventure in the desert. Merzouga is a gorgeous desert town surrounded by picturesque scenery, oasis, and abandoned settlements. We start our desert discovery from our camp by visiting the nomads in their tents where we can see their way of living and also have a walk their traditional tents.

Later, our journey continues by passing through another Nomadic settlement and a mining Kohl abandoned village to Khamliya where Dark-skinned people live. In this small town, we will have a chance to watch those people play their unique music. 

We will finish our fun day by having a traditional Berber pizza in a very local restaurant in the same town. We get you to your hotel after you enjoyed your meal.

Day 10: Erg Chebbi – Alnif – Gorges of Todgha – Valleys of Dades

On the morning, is best to get up early for lovely sunrise, after breakfast & shower return by camel ride / or 4*4 car towards Merzouga village departure to Rissani town. we will walk around the famous, traditional, and largest Market in the area exploring the local-made goods and art crafts.

It’s better to go to Rissani on one of the following days: Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. These three days are the souk, so it’s a good day for the people of the desert area that want to try and do shopping. Later we travel to Tinghir along the Tafilalt Oasis where we are able to stop to explore the traditional system of irrigation found there.

Driving through Alnif town where we’ll have free time for Coffee/lunch. Then, continue to Tinghir to explore the stunning views of Todra valley & walk along Todra Gorge with its orange towering cliffs, the canyons of Todra Gorge are almost 1,000 feet deep, also a preferred place for climbers. we’ll end our day in Boumalne Dades with its green valley, Dinner & overnight in a hotel / or Riad.

Day 11: Boumalne Dades – Rose Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

Next day of your tour, you’ll continue your journey after breakfast. You’ll drive along the road of Thousand Kasbahs, seeing the kasbahs on both sides of the road.

Next, you’ll visit the Rose Valley and head to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” You’ll have the opportunity to visit the cinema studios where many movies, such as Game of Thrones and Gladiator, have been filmed. After that, you’ll visit the UNESCO-listed Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the oldest and largest kasbah in Morocco.

You’ll then drive along the Atlas Mountains, stopping at the Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass for panoramic views and visiting an argan oil cooperative. Finally, you’ll head to the imperial city of Marrakech.

Day 12: Marrakech to Airport

Our 12-day tour Marrakech to the desert via the north will end here, as you will fly back home packed with unforgettable memories from your stay in Morocco. Your transfer to Marrakech airport will be arranged
