Tour Details

A private 4-day tour from Marrakech to Fes via desert journey includes stays in Merzouga (Desert) and Dades Valley. The first day will take you through the High Atlas Mountains, stopping at Ait Ben Haddou before continuing on to Dade through Skoura and Rose Valley.

The second day will begin with a visit to Todra Gorges before you head south to Merzouga and begin an overnight camel trek in the desert. The third day will be spent in the desert, visiting fossil mining, nomad families, and abandoned settlements.

We will depart early on the last day for Fes, passing through Ifrane, Ziz Valley, Midelt, and Cedar Forest. For those that want to upgrade their lodging standards. We provide three choices for enhancing your desert camp and hotels: ordinary, mid-range, and luxury.

What to Expect in the Tour

A private 4-day trip from Marrakech to Fes across the desert includes stays in Dades Valley and Merzouga (desert). The first day will take you through the High Atlas Mountains, with a stop at Ait Ben Haddou before continuing to Dades via Skoura and Rose Valley.

On the day after, we will start with a visit to the Todra Gorges, then a drive south to Merzouga and an overnight camel ride across the desert.

Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ouarzazate – Rose Valley – Dades Gorges

You will be picked up from your riad Marrakech location to start your 3-day desert tour from Marrakech adventure. You will soon leave the city behind as you travel through the High Atlas’s sceneries over the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, which is 2260 meters (7415 feet) above sea level. Enchanting Berber villages will be visited during several stops along the way.

One of the best examples of Moroccan architecture is this fortified village called Ait Ben-Haddou. Several well-known movies that were shot in the Kasbah, such as “Kingdom of Heaven” from 2005, “Babel” from 2006, “Prince of Persia” from 2010, “Game of Thrones” from 2012, and “David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet” from 2020. There will be plenty of chances for you to explore the interior of this historic Kasbah.

Following lunch, we will travel via Ouarzazate, Skoura, and Kalaat M’Gouna’s rose valley to reach the Dades Gorges along the 1000 Kasbahs road. We will visit the amazing rock formations known as the monkey fingers if we still have time when we get to the Gorges in the evening. Dinner and hotel accommodations.

Day 2: Dades - Todra Gorges - Erfoud - Merzouga (Night in Desert Camp)

Our next morning will start with a delicious breakfast to on your second day of your 3-day tour from Marrakech to the Merzouga Desert, you will proceed to Tinghir, where you will make a stop at a panoramic viewpoint that overlooks picturesque Berber settlements and an oasis teeming with palm trees. We will drive for a while deep along the valley to reach Todra gorge where you can walk alongside the Gorge, a 300-meter-tall canyon.

After lunch, we drive further to the southeast towards Merzouga desert where your camels awaits. As we get there, you will get on your camels for a breathtaking ride through the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert while enjoying the beauty of nature. In order to catch the sunset, you will stop on one the sand dunes to watch a beautiful sunset full of tranquility in the middle in the desert.

Later, you ride your camels to the camp where you will get your private tent and rest before having a Berber dinner and enjoy Berber music around camp fire.

Day 3: Merzouga Explore - Gnawa Music - Visit Nomads Families

On the third day, we’ll wake you up early so you can see the breathtaking sunrise. Following that, you’ll have breakfast, shower, and begin the day. We have all day today to go on a 4WD adventure in the desert. Merzouga is a gorgeous desert town surrounded by picturesque scenery, oasis, and abandoned settlements. We start our desert discovery from our camp by visiting the nomads in their tents where we can see their way of living and also have a walk their traditional tents.

Later, our journey continues by passing through another Nomadic settlement and a mining Kohl abandoned village to Khamliya where Dark-skinned people live. In this small town, we will have a chance to watch those people play their unique music. 

We will finish our fun day by having a traditional Berber pizza in a very local restaurant in the same town. We get you to your hotel after you enjoyed your meal.

Day 4: Merzouga Desert - Ziz Valley - Midelt - Ifrane - Fes

On the last day of our 4-day Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour, you will wake up to the breathtaking sunrise above Erg Chebbi’s dunes and then have breakfast at the camp. Instead of riding camels back to the starting site, you can then choose for a 4WD transport.

After exploring Merzouga, you’ll be taken to the next destination, which is Fes, via the Ziz Valley, Midelt, Ifrane City, which is referred to as the “Little Switzerland of Morocco,” and the famous Middle Atlas cedar forest, which is home to the Barbary apes, in Azrou, where you can take a brief walk for photos.

When you arrive in Fes in the late afternoon, you will be taken to your hotel or riad with amazing tales and unforgettable experiences still bright in your mind.
