Itinerary

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Cedars forest- Midelt – Ziz valley – Merzouga Sahara

Your Fes to Marrakech 5-day Desert Tour begins with an early pickup from your accommodation in Fes. We then head south, passing through Imouzzer to visit Ifrane, known for its cool climate, snow, and alpine-style architecture—earning it the nickname “Switzerland of Morocco.” Next, we stop at the cedar forest, home to the playful Barbary Macaques. Feel free to feed them as you explore the serene woodland. Afterward, we continue to Midelt for a delicious lunch before journeying toward the Sahara Desert. Along the way, we drive through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and follow the scenic Ziz River.

Upon reaching the Sahara Desert in Merzouga, you’ll switch to camels for a ride across the golden dunes. A special stop will be made to witness the magical sunset from the top of a high dune. Finally, we arrive at the desert camp, where you can enjoy traditional Berber drum music, dance around the campfire, and gaze at the endless starry sky. Dinner and an overnight stay in the camp complete your first day of adventure.

Day 2: Merzouga excursion – Visit Nomads – Gnawa Music

Today, we’ll wake you up early so you can see the breathtaking sunrise. Following that, you’ll have breakfast, shower, and begin the day. We have all day today to go on a 4WD adventure in the desert. Merzouga is a gorgeous desert town surrounded by picturesque scenery, oasis, and abandoned settlements. We start our desert discovery from our camp by visiting the nomads in their tents where we can see their way of living and also have a walk their traditional tents.

Later, our journey continues by passing through another Nomadic settlement and a mining Kohl abandoned village to Khamliya where Dark-skinned people live. In this small town, we will have a chance to watch those people play their unique music.

We will finish our fun day by having a traditional Berber pizza in a very local restaurant in the same town. We get you to your hotel after you enjoyed your meal.

Day 3: Merzouga Sahara – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the desert dunes. After breakfast, you’ll return by camel to Merzouga, where your driver awaits. We then leave the desert behind and head to Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet and a bustling trading hub. Explore its lively souk, especially vibrant on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Next, we visit Erfoud, known for its fossilized marble, and stop at a local workshop to see this unique craft. Continuing through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, we arrive at the stunning Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has carved a dramatic canyon through red cliffs—a paradise for rock climbers and nature lovers. Take time to wander and soak in the majestic scenery, followed by lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we drive through the Dades Valley, stopping at the iconic “monkey fingers” rock formation and a scenic viewpoint overlooking the valley. The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel, surrounded by the beauty of the Dades region.

Day 4: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Palm Groves of Skoura – Ouarzazate

After breakfast, we’ll continue our journey to Kalaa Magouna to explore the famous Rose Valley. If you’re visiting in May, you’ll have the chance to experience the annual Rose Festival, where locals showcase their rose-based products, including perfumes, rose water, oils, and cosmetics. Enjoy some free time for lunch before we drive through the lush palm groves of Skoura and visit the historic Kasbah of Amridil.

Later, we’ll arrive in Ouarzazate, where we’ll explore the film studios that have been the backdrop for many famous movies and visit the impressive Taourirt Kasbah. The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 5: Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

On the final day, we’ll depart to visit the iconic Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a stunning fortified village. This famous kasbah has served as a filming location for numerous movies, such as *Gladiator*, *Alexander*, and *The Mummy*, as well as TV series like *Game of Thrones*. After exploring the kasbah, we’ll continue our journey to Marrakech, driving through the breathtaking Tizi-N-Tichka Pass and the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we’ll stop for lunch and take photos at scenic spots.
